Pulp Changes Secondary to Orthodontic Forces: A Review of Literature

This review article encompasses the literature pertaining to changes in dental pulp subsequent forces exerted secondary orthodontic treatment. The was conducted at College of Dentistry, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia, from October 2022 February 2023. A search on PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar for articles 2000 Keywords MeSH terms used were ‘orthodontic forces’, ‘pulp changes’, ‘dental pulpal volume’. Two reviewers went through titles. After removing irrelevant duplicate articles, abstracts assessed relevant articles. Finally, analyzed full-text a total five including four randomized controlled trials one retrospective study selected. It concluded that managing minimizing injury or supporting tissues is important when using mechanics. In order do so, clinicians must thoroughly understand any change tissue following Orthodontic tooth movements cause inflammatory periodontal ligament which are directly related amount, direction, time duration force used. Long-term blood flow analysis shows even though there transient uptrend after removal force, it reverts normal levels three months later. However, volume has been reported decrease, more prominently anterior teeth, as stimulate produce tertiary dentin.
